The former Russian president said several countries are poised to provide nuclear warheads to Iran after the US launched a strike against three Iranian nuclear facilities.
“The richness of nuclear material – and now, we can say for sure, future production of nuclear weapons will continue,” Dmitry Medvedev, now vice-chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said in the X-Post Sunday.
“Many countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads,” Medvedev said.
Medvedev did not list any particular countries that could market or support Iran. However, Russia has historically supported Iran’s nuclear program. Russian President Vladimir Putin also offered to mediate peace talks between Iran and Israel on Wednesday.
Moscow also offered to intervene and support the negotiation of a nuclear deal between the US and Iran.
Moscow was involved in the 2015 Iran deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan. The agreement lifted sanctions against Iran in exchange for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, but in 2018 Trump withdrew the contract.

Medvedev’s comments came after the US began strike late Saturday. More than 125 US aircraft were involved in the mission, including B-2 stealth bombers, according to Chief of Staff Dan Kane.
President Donald Trump has said for days that he is deliberating whether he will strike against those sites.
The White House and the State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital on Medvedev’s statement.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that the strike violated international law and called for a “end of the attack.”

“An irresponsible decision to be hit by missiles and bombs on the territory of a sovereign state. Whatever it may be presented, it violates international law, the UN Charter and the resolutions of the UN Security Council,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
Before the strike, Iran warned that if the US previously issued a retaliatory strike against a base where US forces were held after the killing of a top Iranian general in 2020, it would suffer if the US chose to engage in the conflict.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegses told reporters on Sunday that the US will work with allies in the region to help force protection in the aftermath of the strike.
“We certainly understand the challenges of our allies in the region,” Hegses said. “And we are respectful and working with them.
“In the end, they also have a lot of assets and people in places where the US military co-locates together, so that’s our consideration.”
