A Russian citizen was charged with felony assault Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles, allegedly biting and injuring an immigrant officer who had detained him and arrested him.
The U.S. Lawyer’s Office in LA said in a news release Wednesday that federal authorities filed a lawsuit against Costa Mesa’s Macsym Zaithsev, 35, attacked a physical employee.

According to an affidavit filed criminal complaint in federal court, immigrants and customs deportation officers identified only as IR and FH, identified only as IR and FH, detention ZaitseV on Tuesday morning. It is unclear what the arrest warrant was intended.

Zaitsev was expected to first appear on Wednesday in US District Court in downtown LA if convicted.
The alleged attack comes amid a major flood of orders and policy changes aimed at strengthening immigration laws and promoting deportation.
