A senior member of Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that several countries are increasing “titanic efforts” to undermine future summits between Russian leaders and US President Donald Trump.
The two leaders are scheduled to meet in Alaska on August 15th, but Trump’s announcement made on Truth Social Post on Friday provides little additional details about the summit. It is also unclear whether Ukrainian Voldymir Zelensky will be invited to participate in the consultations as the Kremlin’s unprovoked war has grown in its fourth year.

“Undoubtedly, many countries interested in continuing the conflict will make a Titanic effort to disrupt the planned meeting between Putin and President Trump,” Russian investment mission Kiril Dmitriev, referenced the ongoing Kremlin war in Ukraine in a Telegram post on Saturday.
Dmitriev did not name any particular countries, but he warned that critics of future consultations could attempt to sabotage the summit through diplomatic manipulation and media-led provocation. Several NATO countries in Europe are openly skeptical of any deal that rewarded Russian invasions in the war three years ago.

Dmitriev, who met with Trump administration officials in Washington in April, has been called Putin’s “shadow foreign minister” for his behind the scenes in shaping Russia’s global diplomacy.
As head of the Kremlin sovereign wealth fund and recently appointed envoy, he often acted as an informal bridge between Moscow and Washington.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin said in a statement on Saturday that Trump and Putin are expected to “focus on discussing options to achieve a long-term peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis.”
“This will clearly be a challenging process, but we will be actively and energetically engaged in it,” the statement added.
Trump previously said Putin and Zelensky were approaching a ceasefire deal, but Kiev suggested that he must acknowledge important territory.
