Salvador restaurant workers support agents injured during a protest on ice raid in Compton

In the protest sparked by a weekend immigration enforcement project in Los Angeles County, workers at a Salvador restaurant in Compton helped to help deputies for injured people who responded to the scene.

Footage captured by Stringer Service Onscene.tv shows at least three deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, handled by employees of restaurant Y Pupseria Laceiba, a local Salvadora River cafeteria on East Arondra Boulevard.

The lawmakers appeared to be suffering from protest-related injuries. In the video, two deputies sitting inside the restaurant saw about four or five workers fountaining their faces with plates, smearing ice, pouring refreshing drinks (probably water or traditional drinks), washing their eyes away and soothing the discomfort.

The situation remains unknown how or why the agent appeared inside the restaurant. However, Onscene.tv reports that the incident occurred during a protest in Compton following an immigration and customs enforcement raid in nearby city of Paramount.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that deputies had been dispatched to the 6400 block of Alondora Boulevard in Paramount around 11am Saturday.

“When the deputies arrived it seemed federal law enforcement officials were in the area and members of the public were gathering to protest,” LASD said. “The Sheriff’s department was not involved in federal law enforcement operations or actions and was only responded to traffic and crowd control.”

US Attorney Bill Essayli said on social media that federal law enforcement operations are “initializing as planned this weekend in Los Angeles County,” advised anyone attempting to block enforcement will be arrested and charged.

The extent of the agent’s injuries is not immediately revealed, but the video appears to reassemble their gear and return to the patrol vehicle.
