San Bernardino County man charged with threatening to assassinate President Trump

A San Bernardino County man has been charged with three counts threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump.

The Justice Department has announced that Thomas Eugene Strebel, 73, of Yucca Valley, was arrested Monday and charged with a three-count federal ju trial in Riverside on Tuesday.

“The indictment then alleges several cases of intentionally threatening Donald Trump to kill physical harm.

According to the indictment, Streavel allegedly posted multiple messages on Facebook, including fatal threats during the presidential election, particularly on November 5, 2024, including fatal threats during the presidential election.

DOJ said it reportedly posted a message to Facebook during the private time before the election.

However, the accusations he is currently facing mainly involve the explicit message regarding assassinating Trump after the election.

It is said that Streavel posted “readed messages” from the day after the election.[T]Lamp is a dead man walking for a while until a patriot like me blows him [expletive] The brain will come out in the very near future. ”

The DOJ then provided the following list detailing the message in Streavel:

On November 12, 2024, Streavel posted a message on Facebook that he read, “I’m willing to make America great again and blow him away.” [expletive] It exposes the brain. ” On November 19, 2024, Streavel posted a Facebook message. I read this as “Let’s put a bullet between my ears in the presidential election…that’s what I live for.” On November 28, 2024, Streavel wrote on Facebook, “I pray for a successful assassination in the presidential election,” and “My life’s mission is killing worthless losers. [expletive] And my mission will begin tonight, so please look at your own cards [sic]you’re dead [expletive] And I am your assassin. ”

Tuesday’s announcement did not say whether there is current evidence that Streavel plans to follow the threat.

During his arrest, Stribel pleaded not guilty to all charges. This could mean a statutory maximum sentence of five years in federal prison for each count if convicted.

“This defendant is being charged with threatening our president’s life, a man who has already survived two crazy attempts in his life,” Attorney General Pamela Bondy said.

The judge ordered Streavel to be released on a $10,000 bond, with a trial date scheduled for July 28th.

“The kind of rhetoric and threat this accused made is similar to what led to the president’s attempts to live life last year,” Bill Essay said. “There is no place for political violence or threats in the United States, and we don’t hesitate to arrest and prosecute others who engage in similar criminal acts.”

The DOJ said the US Secret Service is investigating the incident.
