After being released from prison, the homeless man was quickly rebooted for attempting to break into a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Staff’s Vehicle.
The repeat prisoner was identified as a 36-year-old temporary Manuel Nunez Palomino from San Bernardino, according to the SBSD.
Nunez-Palomino was initially arrested around 10:45am on May 8, after allegedly being a “outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrant.”
San Bernardino police booked Nunesparomino at the central detention center where they only stayed for one day.
At 12:18pm on May 9, authorities released him from where he was in custody in the 600 block of E. Rialto Avenue.
However, while he left the property, staff saw Nunez Palomino through security cameras as they walked through the employee’s parking lot and tried to break into the car.
“Nunez-Palomino was observed when he pulled several vehicle door handles in an obvious attempt to enter a vehicle belonging to an employee of the Sheriff’s department,” SBSD said in the release.
The aide left the car park, looked at Nunez Palomino and opened the door to the unlocked passenger of the car where at least one person sat inside.
Before the aides could reach them, the driver, who had no idea about Nunes Palomino, feared that Nunes Palomino would be taken away when he entered his car.
Details are limited, but SBSD said the driver cried out at Nunes Palomino and ordered him to leave the car.
When the aide reached the car, he ordered Nunez Palomino to stop, but the recent prisoner instead got out of the car and fled on foot.
“After a short leg pursuit, Nunez Palomino was taken into custody and later arrested,” SBSD said.
In this second arrest, Nunez-Palomino was charged with attempted robbery of a vehicle.
