Police say a Santa Monica man was arrested over the weekend after the false bomb threat set out for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Davis Darvish, 40, was at Agua Caliente Casino in Cathedral city on Saturday, police said casino security was responsible for bombing the popular Riverside County music festival.
The casino is about a 40-minute drive from the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and hosts a music festival that usually attracts over 10,000 people.
Authorities immediately warned the festival police and provided details about the man he was driving and the white Tesla, according to Cathedral Police.
Officers used DMV information to identify Darvish and issued “good looking” alerts. Police said Darvish will drive from Cathedral City to Coachella Valley and authorities will use an automated license plate reader to track his movements. He arrived in Palm Springs around noon, police said.
Darvish was arrested on suspicion of reporting the threat of a false bomb. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad could not find any weapons or material to make the bombs inside Darvish’s vehicle, police said.
He is in custody in lieu of $1 million bail. Darvish is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, prison records show.
Authorities continue to investigate the situation.
