Santa Monica Police Department officials have arrested 39 people in the evacuation zone over the past five days.
Between January 7 and January 12, when the Palisades Fire broke out, SMPD Lt. Erica Akulfi told KTLA that 10 of the arrests were for robberies.
Three suspects were taken into custody in the incident on 18th Street, four others were arrested in the 200 block of Euclid Street, and two more were arrested at 10th Street and Carlisle Avenue. Akulfi added that six of the robbery suspects were in possession of robbery tools.

The remaining arrests were for curfew violations, outstanding warrants, parole and probation violations, drug possession and driving violations.
Death toll from Eaton and Palisades fires rises to 24, authorities say
“This is a significant increase in the number of arrests that would normally occur in the neighborhood,” Aklufi said in an email. “Given the circumstances, our officers did an outstanding job filling shelters and quelling criminal activity.”
None of the 39 people arrested were Santa Monica residents.
The lieutenant said more information about these incidents, including the identity of the robbery suspects, would be released in the coming days.
