When President Donald Trump arrived at the country on Tuesday for a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi fighters appeared to be escorting Air Force 1.
“The Air Force is trying to lower the wheels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Saudi F-15 fighter jets brought us. Thank you on behalf of President Trump!” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino posted to X while sharing a video of the jet flying alongside the US President’s plane.
Two jets flew to the left of AF1, and three flew to the right.
Scavino also shared a video of the purple prince greeting cards on a purple carpet after landing at Kalido International Airport. The two leaders held a coffee ceremony shortly after greeting each other.
The president brought many administrative leaders to him, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses, Secretary of Commerce Howard Rutnik and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
Trump arrived at the Royal Court in Riyadh around 5:30am ET, where he was welcomed at the ceremony and attended a greeting between Saudi officials and US guests. Trump is expected to hold lunch and meetings over a three-hour period.
