On Thursday, firefighters worked to stop a reported natural gas leak in the city of San Jacinto, Riverside County.
All homes, businesses and schools within a 0.5 mile radius of State Street near Ramona Boulevard have been evacuated.
The Riverside County Fire Department was trying to stop the leak with the assistance of the Hemet Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, but Calfire and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officials were knocking on the door to confirm the area was evacuated.

Preliminary investigations suggest that roadworkers on Esplanade Avenue may have hit a major gas line with a backhoe, causing a gas leak.
