House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., asked Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y. on Friday about whether he has confidence.
Top House Democrats were asked directly twice about Schumer at a rushed press conference to highlight their opposition to the Republican government fundraising bill.
Early in the press conference, Jeffries was asked if it was time for new leadership in the Senate, and replied, “Next Question.”
Jeffries gave the same exact answer when he was later asked Schumer if he had “lost confidence.”
The bill was passed 62-38, avoiding government shutdown.
Democrats face pressure to act and avoid government shutdown
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., Right, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer joined for a press conference at the Statue Hall held in Capitol, Washington, DC on February 12th.
Many say it is a major public rift between the top two Democrats in Congress. The silence against Jeffries’ fellow New York Riberals comes as other Democrats announced they would vote for Republicans to avoid government shutdowns, aiming for rage at Schumer.
Jeffries later stressed and pushed back when Fox News questioned that he was “fearing about saying something about Schumer.”
“Don’t characterise what I say. I’m not afraid of anything,” Jeffries said.
When pressed again, he said, “Do you think this is something Americans care about now? Or do they want us to do everything we can to stop this partisan, harmful Republican bill from actually becoming law?

Jeffries declined to mention Schumer at a press conference, but reporters pushed him with questions about the growing rift between him and the senior Democrats.
He didn’t respond directly when asked if Schumer had “accidentally” with President Donald Trump, but he only pointed out that no votes had been made.
“That’s the question that the Senate deals most with. There hasn’t been a vote yet, and the House’s democratic position is very clear. I strongly oppose efforts to reduce American healthcare, veteran benefits and nutrition aid.

Progressive has been attacking Schumer for his announcement that he would not block the bill, but it is still unclear whether Republicans will be able to find enough democratic support to reach the required 60 vote threshold.
The bill passed the House last week with the support of one House Democrat.
The House and Senate must send bills to Trump’s desks by midnight Friday to avoid partial government shutdowns.
