(Hill) – Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) said he would not step down from his position while he asked to do so after voting to advance the GOP contrast funding bill.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Schumer confirmed he would not step down from his position as a Senate minority leader, and that the vote to advance the Republican drafted fundraising bill was hoping for “many controversy.”
However, Schumer said the continuous resolution (CR) was “certainly bad”, but he insisted that the shutdown would be “15 or 20 times worse.”
“Under the closure, the administrative agencies have the only power to determine what is. “And they can decide without court supervision. The court has only ruled that it is closed to the executor.”

Schumer said leaders like President Donald Trump, Elon Musk and OMB director Russell Vert “will reflect on the federal government.”
“There’s something that makes this worse. There’s no off-ramp,” he added. “Who decides how long the closure will last? Only the evil people at the top of the Trump administration’s executive branch.”
Schumer has been exposed to a fierce fire after the vote to move the bill forward, with some critics urging him to step down from his position, citing the lack of a clear strategy.
