First on FOX: Approximately 2,300 Housing and Urban Development Agency (HUD) employees have opted to postpone offers to resign since January, Fox News Digital learned.

“To continue to serve Americans at the highest standards, we maintain a strong workforce dedicated to promoting the most vulnerable and self-sufficiency pathways, while employing all our programs and personnel inventory.”

“The postponed resignation program fulfills President Trump’s commitment to federal efficiency by providing roads that allow employees to seek new opportunities and at the same time give them the opportunity to streamline our business.”

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) offered a postponed resignation to federal employees in early 2025 and closed it in February. The postponed resignation initiative provided staff with eight months of salary and benefits if they parted ways with federal jobs.

HUD announced on March 31 that the second resignation offer was announced to employees who wish to make an OPM offer to “employees.”

Fox Digital has received a postponed offer of resignation that has been postponed, with slight variations possible as final contracts with staff are resolved. Prior to the Trump administration, HUD employed nearly 10,000 individuals.

“In the first week, President Trump went straight to reform the federal workforce. One option offered to federal employees was the ‘fork of the road’, separating it from the federal workforce,” HUD posted on its official X account on March 31.

“Option to steal a fork on a road that was closed on February 12, 2025. Since then, we have heard from staff who want it. Today, we will launch a second postponed resignation program or “forks on the road” in conjunction with the OPM, which will end on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Under the Biden administration, the HUD is reportedly bleak as staff members work from home and rarely visits its large Washington headquarters. Fox News Digital reported in February that HUD’s headquarters were as empty as the offseason “Spirit Halloween” store under the Biden administration.

“For four years, Americans have transformed government buildings overnight and overnight, transformed into taxpayer-funded “Spirit Halloween” stores,” a Trump administration official told Fox News Digital at the time.

President Donald Trump signed the memo on his first day returning to the oval office order agency to end the remote work arrangements that have been ongoing since the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.

Turner told Fox Digital in February that after his confirmation, the “four-year vacation” for staff was “end.”

“This is a huge loss for the American people and a massive waste of hard-earned taxpayer dollars,” Turner told Fox Digital in February. “Let’s be clear – the four-year holiday is over.”

“I’ve joined many teams in my career and I know from my experience that face-to-face teamwork ensures accountability and promotes an environment of collaboration, creativity and communication,” he said. “At HUD, we’re back to work for Americans.”
