Bisiclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Monday in North Hollywood, and police are searching for a driver who fled the scene.
According to Los Angeles police, at about 10:50pm on July 21, a white pickup truck was heading south on Rankershim Boulevard, attacking a bike crossing the south street of Arminta Street. Authorities said the man was crossing outside the crosswalk.
The drivers continue to travel south along Rankashim Boulevard without stopping to identify themselves or provide help, police said.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Station responded to the scene and took the bike to a nearby hospital where they declared they had died. He was said to be a 52-year-old white man. His name is that family notices are pending from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Detectives are urging those with information to move forward. Under the city’s Hit and Run Rewards Program, rewards of up to $50,000 are offered for information that leads to driver identification, arrest and conviction.
Police are reminding the public that drivers involved in the crash are required to be stopped by law, provide assistance if necessary, and remain on the scene until authorities arrive.
