Authorities are searching for the driver who killed a father of four in Reseda Friday night.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Saticoy Street and Amigo Avenue.
The victim, a 60-year-old man, was crossing the road after leaving a Bible study group, a close friend told NBCLA. Colleagues and friends of the victim remember him as a great, responsible person and a man of faith.
A witness, who chose to remain anonymous, said he was parked behind the victim’s car.
“When he saw me, a car drove by at a high rate of speed, about 70 miles an hour, hit him, dragged him and left him there,” the witness said.
Neighbors told NBCLA they were concerned about traffic conditions on the road where the hit-and-run occurred.
“Sometimes there’s a lot of traffic and sometimes people aren’t respectful,” said neighbor Jose Albaca. “The traffic is getting faster, so there might be a problem.”
The driver left in a burgundy Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Unit at 818-644-8000.
