The Long Beach Police Department announced that Los Angeles investigators have completed efforts to locate the body of an off-duty Los Angeles firefighter who went missing after going diving in Long Beach.
The missing man was also identified as 29-year-old Conor Lee, who authorities said was “presumed lost at sea.”
Long Beach police said all reasonable search efforts were stopped as a team of approximately 20 divers from the Long Beach Fire Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, both Los Angeles and Long Beach police departments, and the Los Angeles Port Police Department began the search. I’m exhausted,” he said. I’m looking for him Wednesday night.
Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Christine Crowley said the missing diver had gone recreational diving on his day off and was not involved in any fire department duties at the time of his disappearance.
Crowley said the off-duty firefighter had been with the Los Angeles Fire Department for six years and was assigned to an active fire department within the city.
The man had gone diving with several other people on Wednesday night. Three of them went into the water while one of them was driving, but only two of them came back.
Police said no foul play was expected in this case.
