A bizarre search and rescue operation unfolded Monday for the occupants of an SUV that reportedly fell 1,000 feet down a hillside in Ventura County Saturday night.
Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly how the accident happened in the area of Deer Creek Road, about two miles south of the Pacific Coast Highway, but initial reports suggest The seriously injured rear seat passenger was able to extricate himself from the white car. According to photojournalists from video news service OnScene.TV, a Cadillac SUV.
The news agency said the man was able to walk back to the road, where his brother picked him up and rushed him to a local hospital.
Authorities did not appear to be aware of the accident until midday Monday when a man who walked back to the road reported that there were two other occupants in the car.

California Highway Patrol troopers spotted the SUV around 4 p.m., and a helicopter, drone, K-9, and search and rescue team, assisted by members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department and Oxnard Fire Department, located the SUV. The search began. rescue team.
