The US Secret Service shot an adult man near the White House in D.C. shortly after midnight Sunday after a “armed conflict” with law enforcement, according to the agency.
The encounter took place near the intersection of 17th Street and F Street NW.
On Saturday, local police reported a “suicide” that could travel from Indiana to D.C., the agency said. The Secret Service representative later found the individual vehicle and on foot who met the explanation.
“As officers approached, individuals wielded firearms and armed conflicts continued, during which time they were fired by staff,” the Secret Service said Sunday in a statement shared by spokesman Anthony Grielmi on the X.
The suspect was taken to hospital and his condition is currently unknown.
The statement also said no injuries were reported among the secret service personnel and that the incident is under investigation.
