Six Secret Service agents have been suspended without pay or benefits following a shooter’s attempt to steal President Donald Trump’s life at a Pennsylvania rally last July.

“He was not fired,” agent’s assistant director, Matt Quinn told CBS News Wednesday. [their] As I got out of it, I said, “However, “The laser is focused on fixing the root cause of the problem.”

Quinn added to the outlet that agent penalties ranged from 10-42 days of unpaid leave and were placed in a limited role with less responsibility after returning to work. He said disciplinary action follows a federal mandatory process.

Fox News Digital contacted the Secret Service for independent confirmation, but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.

Trump directs the Secret Service and instructs him to give “all information” about his attempted assassin: Report

Republican candidate Donald Trump was stolen from the stage on July 13, 2024 at a campaign event at Butler Farm Show in Butler, Pennsylvania, and blood appears on his face surrounded by Secret Service agents.

The agency faced intense criticism following the failure of security, allowing gunman Thomas Crooks to fire on July 13, 2024, towards the stage of the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Corey Comperatore, whose 50-year-old firefighter, father and husband are present at the rally, was killed while Trump’s ears were grazing by bullets and two other men were injured in the shooting.

“The Secret Service is entirely responsible for Butler,” Quinn told CBS. “Butler is an operational failure and today we’re focused on ensuring that it doesn’t happen again.”

He also said the agency is focusing on the “root causes” of operational failures and correcting “the flaws that put us in such a situation.”

Since the Butler Rally, Quinn said the Secret Service has introduced a new fleet of military-grade drones and mobile command posts to improve radio communications with local law enforcement agencies.

The agency faced more criticism weeks later when Trump’s second assassination attempt was made in West Palm Beach, Florida. That was stopped, but then secret service director Kimberly Cheatle resigned, and the agency received several investigations and a council hearing.

The bipartisan House Task Force has published a 180-page report stating that the incident at Butler was “preventable” and that the issues of leadership and training that “created the environment” when security obstacles are possible are “preventable.”

In the report, lawmakers also pointed out that the Secret Service has not coordinated or planned well with local law enforcement agencies.
