Civil Security and Los Angeles police are increasing patrols outside Jewish places of worship in response to Sunday’s attacks in Boulder. Police say the man using a makeshift flamethrower threw the agitator at a crowd of Jewish demonstrators. Eight people were injured.
“What happened in Boulder, Colorado – the brutal target of the elders in particular is the vicious humiliation of our society and the very structure of our beliefs here in Los Angeles.”
Bass said it will convenes an emergency meeting after the end of Shavuot, a Jewish holiday that begins on Sunday and ends on Tuesday evening. “Anti-Semitism is not tolerated in this city,” she said.
Authorities said the attacker, identified by the FBI as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, was targeting protesters in a volunteer group called Run for Run and Walk Event to call for the immediate release of Israeli hostages that remained in Gaza since the start of the Israeli Hamas War in 2023.

The group gathered at the Pearl Street pedestrian mall, a four-block area in downtown Boulder, frequently visited by tourists and University of Colorado Boulder University students.
Soliman was screaming “Free Palestine,” said Mark Mikalek, a special agent in charge of the FBI’s Denverfield office.
Four women and four men, ages 52 to 88, were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Soliman was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment, but authorities did not elaborate on his injuries.
The FBI is investigating the attack as a targeted terrorist act.
“This marks a second violent attack on American Jews and Israeli pro-Israel civilians within two weeks. This is a calm escalation that is not accidentally dismissed,” ambiguity, and silence in the face of absurd anti-Semitism. ”
