Nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced Thursday morning after being postponed twice due to ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott read out this year’s nominees across 23 categories, with several films leading the pack.
Emilia Perez received 13 nominations, the most for a non-English language film in Oscar history. “The Brutalist” and “Wicked” each received 10 nominations, while “The Completely Unknown” and “Conclave” received eight nominations each. “Anora” was next nominated in six categories.
Oscar nominations were originally scheduled to be announced on Friday, January 17th. Due to wildfires in Pacific Palisades, Altadena and other areas around Los Angeles, the Academy extended the voting period and announced nominations on Thursday.
The Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, the original ceremony date, and will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
