A sergeant at the Los Angeles Police Department faces multiple felony charges after he drove after and was allegedly fataled in Tustin before fleeing to the scene.
Carlos Gonzalo Colonel, a 40-year-old Buena Park resident, faces felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
He is also facing an increased felony of serious injuries.
On February 1st, Coronel was driving to his girlfriend’s house after a “night I drank with my brother-in-law.”
Coronel was said to have not stopped, and 19-year-old Gonzalez began to die in the street while continuing to his girlfriend’s house instead.
The other two found Gonzalez on the street and called police as it was allegedly not called Coronel 911.
Prosecutors said Coronel’s girlfriend had to bring him back to his Buena Park home, but told him to avoid Nisson Road, where Gonzalez was attacked.
When his girlfriend returns Coronel to his Buena Park home, Coronel is also accused of instructing his girlfriend to turn to avoid Nisson Road, where Gonzalez was attacked.
“Hoses after Gonzalez was killed, Coronel has been accused of searching the internet to see if there was a fatal hit and run at Tustin,” the release said.
