U.S. Sens. Lindsey Graham (Rs.C.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) urged Attorney General Pam Bondy on Thursday to appoint special advisors to investigate whether former President Barack Obama and his administration tried to shake up the outcome of the 2016 presidential election in support of Hillary Clinton.
In a post on X, Graham wrote: “In the interests of the nation, Senator @John Cornin and I urge former President Obama, his staff and administrative officials to appoint special advisors to investigate the extent to which they operated the US national security equipment for political outcomes.”
Their demand follows the release of newly declassified documents by the Director of National Intelligence, who has questioned the previous assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin attempted to support Donald Trump’s victory.
The document asserts that Russia interfered in the election, but raises doubts about Putin’s specific support for Trump.
Obama’s office issued a rare response Tuesday, saying “these bizarre allegations are ridiculous and weak attempts at distraction.” Hill details >>>
