The Senate launched its marathon voting series on Friday night. That needs Republicans to pass through to approve changes to the House plan for President Donald Trump’s budget.
“Now the Senate will vote for a budget resolution that essentially meets five goals, at least four, one to prevent a $4 trillion tax increase for Americans at the end of the year.”
“Secondly, we will rebuild our troops by investing in military preparations so that America can deal with and stop the threats it is dealing with in a very dangerous world.
“We clearly secure our borders — and we have the resources to make sure we have what we need to ensure that our borders are safe and that Americans are safe over the next four years of this administration.”

Thune said the final point was to “reduce spending.”
The seemingly endless revised vote began after almost a day of discussion. Republicans passed a key move on Thursday and began the process. This concludes with a vote on adjustments to the House GOP budget.
During the “voting for the Llama,” both parties’ senators can introduce an unlimited number of amendments, with many expected to win floor votes. Democrats plan to use the voting marathon as an opportunity to force Republicans to record Trump’s tariffs and Elon Musk-led Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) actions.
Republicans will preempt Trump’s budget and set up a marathon Senate vote

On Thursday, the Senate agreed to allegations that it would proceed along the party line with 52-48 votes.
The only exception was Sen. Rand Paul, who voted against it. He has criticised the provisions for budget amendments regarding debt caps, which would increase up to $5 trillion.
During the last such series in February, the Senate voted for about 10 hours early in the morning. The budget they passed was the Senate GOP’s preferred strategy of having two budgetary settlements for the border and extending Trump’s tax cuts.

But the House plan to address both with one bill ultimately won after getting Trump’s blessing.
It is unclear how long the vote will last. That’s because the amendment depends on how many votes the votes will get, and when Democrats and Republican leaders arrive at the time contract in the Senate.

Once the voting series is over, a final vote will be held to approve Senate amendments to the House budget. Even if this passes, you will still need to return to the lower chamber before it becomes effective.

In addition to raising the debt cap and stealing leverage from Senate Democrats, the Senate budget amendment will also bring Trump tax cuts to Budget Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, Rs.C.
