R-Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno supported Vivek Ramaswamy to become governor of Ohio.
Ramaswamy, a former 2024 presidential candidate who briefly co-chaired President Donald Trump’s government efficiency president, officially launched his 2026 governor’s campaign on February 24th.
Trump quickly threw support behind Lamaswamy’s bid, and the biotechnology entrepreneur has received another important support from Moreno, one of two Senators in Buckeye.

“Vivek is America’s first outsider and the perfect person to make Ohio the perfect state to live, work and raise a family,” Moreno said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.
“I’m proud to see President Trump as his bold leader and become Ohio’s next governor,” he added.
Moreno announced that he is supporting Lamaswamy at the event on Saturday night. “The first and only moral obligation of an elected American official is to the citizens of the United States,” Ramaswamy wrote to X, sharing a clip of Moreno’s remarks. “Senator Bernie Moreno understands that and will not apologise. He is a US Senate star and is proud to have his support tonight. Our party is united in Ohio.
John Husted, another US Senator in Ohio, is a Republican and filled the Vice President of J.D. Vance. Trump’s anticipated support and strong funding for Ramaswamy believed that some political observers were once lieutenant governor of Ohio, to accept Senate appointments instead of launching his own major governor bid. Husted was previously thought to be highly likely for the governor.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was considered an institutional Republican named Jim Tressel, a former Ohio Buckeyes football coach, and Husted was replaced by the governor of the Middle EU. Tressel’s future political ambitions remain unknown.

The timing of Trump’s announcement was intrigued by political observers in Ohio. Ohio’s political observers have now been more than a year since the last few years have been decided to oppress races across major states a few days before the election.
Robert Clegg, the state’s longtime Republican campaign adviser, told The Associated Press last month that he was seeking the governor’s Republican nomination, or perhaps even Tressel, in a message from Ohio Attorney General General Dave Yost. “This was early in the game and I was hoping later this year we’d have waited like autumn or even until January,” Clegg said. “I wonder if the president doesn’t want to have a knockdown in Ohio and a drug-out primary?”

Until just 19 days before the election, Trump respected Republican candidates in Ohio’s 2022 US Senate primary, supported Vance and pushed him to the finish line to secure a GOP nomination. Vance continued to win the general election for the falling Senate seats. A year later, Trump issued Moreno’s approval for the Senate three months before the primary election. Moreno continued to win both primary and general elections.

Trump’s support is expected to support Ramaswamy’s early campaign efforts in the state that he has voted heavily for Trump three times. In preparation for his announcement, Ramaswamy also approved the national approval of key political advisers who helped Vance in the 2022 Senate bid, as well as statewide officials and well-known conservatives across the country, including Florida Sen. Rick Scott and Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn.
