R-La. Senator Bill Cassidy has condemned the Department of Health and Human Services’ move to move funds from mRNA vaccine development, claiming President Donald Trump’s agenda will be healthy again.

“We reviewed science, listened to experts and acted,” said the Ministry of Health and Human Services Sec. According to a HHS press release, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“Barda has ended its 22 mRNA vaccine development investments, as it shows that these vaccines cannot effectively protect against upper respiratory tract infections such as Covid and the flu. We are moving its funds to a safer, broader vaccine platform that is effective even when the virus is mutated.”

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. heads to the National Mall’s first Great American Farmers Market on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Cassidy registered his objection to the move.

“Unfortunately, it’s a shame that the secretary cancelled five billion jobs and wasted money that was already invested. He also acknowledged China the key technologies needed to combat cancer and infectious diseases. President Trump wants to make America healthy again and again make America great.

HHS states, “Some final stage contracts (such as Arcturus and amplitude) will be allowed to run courses to maintain previous taxpayer investments, but new mRNA-based projects will not be launched. HHS also directs Global Health Investment Corporation (GHIC), a partner that manages Barda ventures, which manages Barda Ventures, which manages Barda Ventures, which manages Barda ventures. The department is not affected by this announcement.”

GOP Louisiana Senator says he is running for the US Senate because incumbent Republicans “suck”

R-LA, ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee.

Fox News Digital contacted Cassidy’s office on Thursday to request comment from the senator, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

Cassidy, who has been in the Upper Chamber since 2015, is hoping to be re-elected in 2026, but the incumbent faces competition from other Republicans who have launched bids for Senate seats.

In February 2021, Cassidy voted to convict Trump after a House bluff each in the wake of a January 6 episode at the U.S. Capitol. The Senate vote that took place after Trump was already in office ultimately did not reach the required threshold for conviction.
