First on Fox: R-Wis. Sen. Ron Johnson of the group is preparing for a subpoena from the FBI and Department of Justice for details of last year’s attempts to assassinate President Donald Trump.
Johnson, who chairs the Standing Subcommittee on Investigation, was co-author of last year’s bipartisan Senate Homeland Security Committee on attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

However, the report was not a final product. Now he is ahead of the investigation he described as “mad” because of the obstacles and barriers he faced along the way. And last night he approved the subpoena to get more information from the FBI and the Department of Justice.
“I want our report to be bipartisan, but everyone else is moving here and it doesn’t seem particularly interested in the investigation. I said,” Johnson said. “I have approved the subpoena as I am moving forward, whether or not other officers are involved.”

Johnson accused the FBI and DOJ of “not sharing with us,” saying that documents are needed to proceed with the investigation and “we haven’t gotten it.”
“We’re staying on the wall. I’m not happy about it,” he said.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the FBI and the Department of Justice for comment.
Almost a year ago, gunman Thomas Crooks fired eight rounds from a rooftop near the Trump rally stage, grazing the then-presidential candidate in his ears, killing one rally attendee, firefighter Corey Comperatore, and injured others before killing him.

The previous preliminary report was the product of a permanent subcommittee on joint investigations and investigations with the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, which was then led when Senate Democrats controlled the majority.
The report found that the U.S. Secret Service’s “Failures for planning, communications, security and allocation of resources on July 13, 2024 are foreseeable and preventable and directly related to events leading to the assassination attempt of that day.

Johnson reiterated that he hopes that the final report and his push of subpoena will be a bipartisan effort.
“I want them all to come in, but if they don’t again… I have the power of a one-sided subpoena so I’ll issue that subpoena,” he said. “But it’s great when other executives come in.”
