First Fox: For one lawmaker, the path to making Americans healthier begins in the dirt.

R-Kan. Senator Roger Marshall styles himself as an early adopter of Make America Healthy Movement, a political slogan born on the 2024 campaign trail.

However, Marshall sees the initiative commonly known as Maha as an initiative that allows you to start earlier than switching oil to deep frying or swapping high fructose corn syrup for soda sugar cane sugar.

Senators oppose Vought’s call for more partisan spending processes

He has four pillars of his own Maha. This includes dialing the efficiency of farming. Healthier and more nutritious foods. Affordable access to primary care healthcare. and address mental health challenges among young people.

But it all starts below the surface with the health of the soil.

“Soil is a dirty topic, you know, pun intended,” Marshall told Fox News Digital in an interview.

He said Maha Dihadha and the farmers are at odds with each other on the surface level. For example, going back to a completely organic food production process that lacks fertilizer will create healthier foods, but increasing the costs of consumers and farmland stocks.

Earlier in the week, Marshall held a roundtable meeting with Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to try to fill that gap.

“Soil health seems to be a common basis,” he said. “So healthy soil and healthy foods meet healthy people. Rather than telling these farmers what you can and can’t do, Maha wanted to say, “What is your goal here?” If you have the same goal, you understand this. The goal is healthy soil. ”

Together, it is only part of his plan that it is a more holistic approach to agriculture that targets soil health by restoring and strengthening ecosystems, along with regenerative agriculture experts.

He also intends to drop a large package of bills divided into categories that reflect his four pillars, including laws targeting healthcare, mental health, nutrition and agriculture.

Among the nearly 30 bills and amendments in the package, Marshall is particularly keen to be fitted with. Plant biostimulatory practices promote the use of organisms that can be placed in the soil and latch onto the roots of plants that absorb nitrates and more water, he said.

“Long Deferral”: Senate Republicans cut foreign aid through Trump’s clawback package, NPR

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins will hold ice cream cones after speaking at a press conference at the USDA headquarters building in Washington, DC on July 14, 2025.

The bill is directly linked to a passion for regenerative agriculture, which uses less fertilizer, water and other state agriculture technologies to produce healthy foods on more sustainable farmlands.

“It’s growing less,” he said.

Among the various bipartisan laws from both rooms are bills that promote mobile cancer screening with grant funding, adding mental health warnings for children, scrolling through social media, and transparency of food ingredients.

Most bills need to win 60 votes in the Senate, Marshall noted, which led to the desire to incorporate as many bipartisan measures as possible into the package. It is also the topic of “unifying us together, not splitting us.” Despite political polarization in Washington.

Still, once President Donald Trump takes office, he sees the opportunity for the measure to pass as a now or never a moment.

“We believe that seeing the incidence of cancer, when cancer age is younger and younger, is the inflammatory response to the food we eat, as Alzheimer’s disease is younger and younger.

“I think high blood pressure, which is heart disease, is truly an inflammatory response, against constantly high sugar levels in the foods we eat and the blood system,” he continued. “So, absolutely, I’ll grab the moment. This is it.”

Alex Miller is a writer for Fox News Digital, which covers the US Senate.
