First on FOX: US Senator Tim Sheehee from R-Montana called on Mexican President Claudia Sinbaum with a rigorous letter of waste that was dumped on the Tijuana River, dealing with a massive amount of raw sewage.
The letter not only outlines Sheehee’s concerns about the health and safety of local residents, but also points out that toxic leaks may be putting US national security at risk.
“This ongoing discharge causes thousands of Americans to sick each year, including US Navy seals and marine special forces training in affected waters,” the letter to the Mexican president reads. “In February 2025, the Department of Defense Inspector’s Office concluded that the Navy Special Wars Command would recommend cancel or relocate up to 75% of water training exercises at Navy Amphibious Base Coronado due to rising levels of bacterial contamination.”

Last week, the International Boundary Water Commission said Mexico dumps 5 million gallons of sewage a day into Tijuana RRVER. The toxic waste can then flow into the US and even take the path to the Pacific Ocean.
“For decades, Mexico has been dumping toxic waste into the water on our most elite military train trains. “The problem is only getting worse, and what we couldn’t do about it is hurting our military and national security. Mexico needs to stop this toxic tide soon.”
Although Sheehee has issued a warning from Congress, local leaders have also confirmed that the Mexican government’s intentional waste dumping left dangerous and harmful environmental conditions for residents.

“This sewage is not only disgusting, but also dangerous. It contains E. coli, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, arsenic and other toxic chemicals,” explained San Diego County supervisor Jim Desmond in a recent Fox News Op-Ed. “Our water is contaminated. Our atmosphere is contaminated with aerosolized waste. Residents report everything from skin infections to viral pharyngitis.
Next Tuesday, Fox News Digital reported that EPA administrator Lee Zeldin is very aware of the issue and intends to visit a local treatment facility in San Diego to assess the harmful flow of toxic waste from Mexico into the United States. A source close to Zeldin told Fox that this is a top priority for President Donald Trump’s environmental leader.

“There are so many horror stories of navy seals, some of the bravest and brightest service members in the military — got sick from training in waters polluted by Mexican sewage that plunged into our country,” Zeldin told Fox on Friday. “This was a human health crisis that has remained for decades.”
