IDAHO (AP) — Seven people have been killed and eight injured in a collision between a pickup truck and a tour van near Yellowstone National Park, Idaho State Police say.
The crash happened on a highway near Henry Lake State Park in eastern Idaho before 7:15pm Thursday, police said in a press release. The state park is approximately 16 miles (26 kilometers) west of Yellowstone National Park.
Idaho State Police said in a news release that both vehicles sparked fires after the crash. Six people in the Dodge Ram Pickup driver and Mercedes passenger van have been killed. The van carried a tour group of 14 people, and the surviving residents were injured and taken to hospital, police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
Authorities have not said that this led to the clash during the investigation.
Police say the ambulance and emergency emergency personnel responded to the collision.
The Fremont County Coroner’s Office did not disclose the names of those killed Friday morning. Idaho State Police said officials are still working to notify the families of those killed and injured, so the agency said they have not yet released the names, ages, hometowns or nationalities of those involved.
