“Retirement” was nominated for 27 Emmy Awards on Tuesday, splitting off the field, with “The Studio” leading the comedy nominee in 23 in the dominant year for Apple TV+.

Other dramas didn’t approach the dystopian workplace series “Severance.”

Adam Scott and Britt Lower’s major acting nominations amounted to their character’s “Innie” work and the dual role as the “Outie” home itself. Tramell Tillman got a supportive nod to play the supervisor wielding a tone-shift pineapple. Ben Stiller was appointed command.

Apple’s Hollywood satire, “Studio,” was expected to do a big show towards its first season, but it unleashed more established shows like “Hacks” which won 14 and “The Bear” which won 13.

Seth Rogen, co-creator of “The Studio,” personally won three nominations for acting, writing and directing. The guest star A-list roster has brought in bounties nominated for Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Brian Cranston, Anthony Mackey and Zoe Kravitz.

HBO’s dark drama from Batman’s universe, The Penguin, was also surprisingly dominant in a limited series category, with 24 nominations, including NODS for the lead of Colin Farrell and Christine Milioti.

HBO’s “The White Lotus” has four cast members, including Carrie Coon, who can get a nod of support actresses, and three cast members, including actors who support three, including three actors. He was the second in the drama category to “retire” and received 23 nominations overall.

Netflix’s acclaimed “Adolescent” received 13 nominations, including a nod to the 15-year-old Owen Cooper’s supportive actor.

Harvey Guillén and Brenda songs read nominations in major categories.

Major nominees for the 2025 Emmy Awards

The candidates for the Best Drama Series are: “Paradise”; “Retirement”; “Slow Horse”; “Diploma”; “Pit”; “Our Last” and “White Lotus”.

The candidates for the Best Comedy Series are: “Bear”; “Studio”; “Just killing in a building.” “Abbott Elementary School”; “No one wants this”; “reducing” and “we’re going to be in the shadows.”

The candidates for the Outstanding Limited series are: “Black Mirror”; “Die for Sex”; “Monster: The Story of Lyle and Eric Menendez” and “The Penguin.”

“The Last of Us” received 16 nominations in the drama category, helping to provide something that would be a big year for most outlets, but only on the average year for Prestige Cable Channel, given its previous advantage. (edit)

The best comedy actor candidates are: SethRogen, “The Studio.” Martin Short, “The Only Murder in the Building.” Jeremy Allen White, “The Bear.” Adam Brody, “No one wants this.” Jason Siegel, “reduced”

The best comedy actress candidates are: Uzo Adva, “Residence.” Kristen Bell, “No one wants this.” Quinta Brunson, “Abbott Elementary”; Jeansmart, “Hacking”; Ayo Edibiri, “The Bear.”

Two categories were announced early on in “CBS Mornings.” The talk series candidates are “The Daily Show with John Stewart,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

The candidate for the reality competition series is “Amazing Race.” Rupaul’s Drag Race; “Survivor”, “Top Chef” and “The Traitors.”

“Severance” will grow to Apple TV+

“Resignation” has become a signature show for Apple TV+. The streamers were indeed dominant on the comedy side, having been nominated for Emmy Awards for dramas such as “Morning Show,” “Slow Horse,” and “Ted Lasso.”

But Apple lacks the breakaway fame drama that HBO appears to be producing permanently. That could change if the Emmys are handed out in September.

“Severance” won 14 nominations in its first season of 2023, but only two in the music and title sequence.

How streaming has changed TV and Emmy

All shows live in a divided world of the streaming era, and Oscar’s most acclaimed candidate rarely has a massive audience of its former days. According to Warner Bros Discovery, an average of 10 million people per episode were watching Weil in “Pits” at some point on HBO Max, but 30 million people averaged sat on the same night 30 years ago, seeing him in “ER” on NBC.

Broadcast networks are primarily in the absence of Emmy, with a few glorious exceptions. ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” draws many comedy nominations every year, and should gain a share this year. And Oscar-winning Kathy Bates is the best runner for comedy Emmy’s best actress in her role in CBS’s “Matlock.” She was the first person since 2019 to be nominated in the category by the Network Show and her first win since 2015.

CBS will air the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on September 14th. Nate Bargazze will be hosted.
