Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro sued President Donald Trump’s administration on Thursday, frozen the federal fund. Pennsylvania is now one of at least 24 states, with the District of Columbia filing a lawsuit challenging Trump’s “unconstitutional” federal funding freeze.

The White House Management and Budget Office (OMB) directed the suspension of federal funds on January 27th. Pennsylvania’s state agencies were unable to access $1.2 billion in federal funds for an additional $900 million that required federal review. Shapiro is trying not to remove these funds.

The lawsuit was Vaught in their respective capabilities by Secretary of Home Affairs Doug Burgham, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and OMB Director Russell.

“The federal government has signed a contract with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide billions of dollars of funds approved by Congress, which has committed to public health protection, reduced energy costs, providing safe and clean drinking water, and commits to critical needs. They are committed to providing it. This funding freeze has led the Trump administration to break that deal.

Trump administration appeals to a federal judge’s order to freeze federal funds for appeal

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro will speak on August 21, 2024 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on the third day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

The Trump administration has called the legal challenges against Trump’s executive orders “an attempt to undermine the will of the American people.” The White House on Thursday dismissed Shapiro’s lawsuit as an extension of “resistance on the left.”

“Radical leftists can either swim against the tide and reject the overwhelming will of the people, or work with President Trump to advance their hugely popular agenda. These lawsuits is just an extension of the left-hand resistance — and the Trump administration is ready to stand up to them in court,” said White House principal Harrison Fields.

The White House has promised to freeze funds that have “wake up” despite withdrawing the OMB memo

Shapiro said federal funding could “have risky Pennsylvania projects, including reclamation of abandoned mine land, capping and plugging orphans and reducing consumer costs.” Meanwhile, , the federal owes debt on federally approved projects.

Pennsylvania joined at least 23 states and Washington, DC, suing the Trump administration for freezing federal funds. A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking a freeze on state funding in lawsuits against the Trump administration. Pennsylvania did not sue the Trump administration to remove funds, so they were not affected by the order to release funds.

“Several federal judges have ordered the Trump administration not to remove this fund, but access has not been restored and they have no choice but to pursue legal action to protect the interests of the federal and its residents.” Shapiro said.

The Democrat group came out shortly in support of Shapiro’s lawsuit.

“We are strongly supporting Governor Shapiro’s actions to protect Pennsylvanians, support the community and reduce costs by challenging this funding freeze. Block these important funds What you do is an unacceptable attack on Pennsylvania’s families, communities and economic stability, Pennsylvania House Democrats said in a statement.

Evergreen Action, a progressive climate action organization, praised Shapiro for standing up for the Pennsylvanians.

“Pennsylvania and its communities, businesses and local governments must quickly regain access to funds and be freed from this confusion and uncertainty. We thank the governor for their leadership and these important things. “The funds will soon reach those who need them most,” said Julia Coltley, Associate State Policy Director, Evergreen Action.
