Sean “Diddy” Combs refused a plea deal in his upcoming trial on charges of assault, sex trafficking and transport to engage in prostitution.
At a hearing Thursday, Judge Arun Subramanian asked Combs if he refused a plea deal from federal prosecutors, which could shorten the prison sentence if convicted.
“Yes, yes, your honor,” Combs said.
A conviction for all counts would probably amount to life in prison for the 55-year-old Comb. Sex trafficking charges are sentenced to the maximum sentence for the greatest life sentence in the largest prison, but are liable for a minimum of 15 years.
Details of the terms of the plea bargain have not been revealed.
Combs was arrested and charged last year after a bombing lawsuit from his former partner, singer Cassandra Ventura.
Combs quickly settled the lawsuit, but many other accused and witnesses later accused Combs of overseeing a culture of violent abuse and sex trafficking, leading to a massive federal attack on Combs’ property in La and Miami.
Combs denied all charges against him, including those who replaced the March accusations, and pleaded not guilty.
The selection of ju appellates is scheduled to begin on Monday, with a statement beginning on May 12th.
