One was killed in an explosion Thursday at a Shimi Valley home where firefighters said it could have been caused by fireworks.
The fire and explosion in the home’s garage was reported late Thursday morning in the 1600 block of Edmund Street.
The NewsChopper4 video dealt a lot of damage to the garage and front of the Multi Story House. Part of the roof of the house appeared to be cave down.
One person was killed, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The victim was found in the garage, authorities said. It was not immediately clear whether the person lived in the house or not.
The neighbor said he heard the huge explosion before it sounded like a small explosion from a fireworks. Residents said they looked outside and saw flames coming due to the roof of the house.
The garage door was blown across the street. The flames spread from the garage to the house, with pickups parked in front of the house.
The fireworks were found in the garage and in the pickup, according to the fire department.

The Simi Valley Police Department has asked people to avoid areas in the Ventura County community in northwest Los Angeles.
Details regarding the cause of the fire were not available immediately.
