Once considered the tallest and fastest in the world, the Six Flags Superman roller coaster was defeated by a fatal dose of Kryptonite.
Six Flags Magic Mountain’s leadership confirmed with the media that coasters that have not been operating since September last year will not return.
Six Flags Magic Mountain president Jeff Harris told the Orange County register that the rides were initially closed due to renovations, but the wisest option was to close forever, as the required parts were not readily available.

The park has not decided what to do with queues, stations and launch trucks from Superman, but the Drop of Doom Drop Ride attached to Lex Luthor: Superman’s Coaster Tower will continue to work. The ride is scheduled to resume next month.
Reddit roller coaster enthusiasts responded to the news, and were disappointed that many called Superman their favorite ride and didn’t reopen.
Without Superman, Magic Mountain currently has 19 roller coasters, which, according to the register, is more than any other amusement park in the world. The new 2026 roller coaster will bring the park’s coaster count back to 20.
The Superman featured a side-by-side L-shaped track, each curved towards the sky. The firing system fired riders from zero to 100 mph in 7 seconds
In 2011, the coaster escaped from Crypton when the Superman: ride vehicle was turned over, so the rider was launched backwards and watched towards the ground as it plunged towards Earth.
