A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA that the suspect pulled out a .22 caliber handgun and fired, hitting all four victims.
The gunman then fled south on foot to Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Avenue, where he shot and killed a fifth victim in MacArthur Park.
A second gunman then shot and killed a sixth victim on the east side of Alvarado Street near the Westlake/MacArthur Park subway station, a spokesperson said.
Three of the victims were transported with serious injuries, but the condition of the other three victims was not immediately known.
Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related, with both suspects known to be members of the CRS gang.
Witnesses said there were four rival gangs in the area and believed Wednesday’s shooting was “retaliation” for what happened Tuesday.
