Motown legend Smokey Robinson and his legal team talk about a civil lawsuit by four former employees.
The 85-year-old singer/songwriter told the Daily Mail that he was “approached” by the allegations, adding that he couldn’t talk any more about the situation.
On Tuesday, employees, all women filed complaints accusing them of sexual assault, assault, false imprisonment, gender violence and creating a hostile work environment.
In a statement to the KTLA, Robinson’s attorney Christopher Frost called the allegations “false” and “vile.”
He also called the press conference Robinson accuser earlier this week the “media circus.”
“Once the evidence was revealed and all the actual facts of the case unfolded, I asked those following this case to reserve their judgment, he continued.
Frost said they plan to ask the court to “dismiss the case.”
He also said in a statement to the press about Robinson he plans to ask the court that the plaintiff’s lawyers have reached beyond the scope of freedoms generally permitted in this context.”
“We can say more about this issue as we work to protect our clients vigorously from these false allegations and protect their good names,” the statement concluded.
Each of the plaintiffs was employed as housekeepers at the legendary Chatsworth home in Motown, with incidents ranging from 2007 to April 2024.
They each accuse him of “forced touching the entire body, including vagina, chest, legs, abdomen, lips, face, and thought he had disagreed with Robinson’s “sexual contact or touch.”
They are seeking $50 million in damages.
No criminal charges have been filed against Robinson.
