New York City’s socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani remained silent almost two days after an unemployed patrol officer was shot in the face by illegal immigrants previously deported in his city.
Mamdani’s social media posts and websites have not provided any official statements on the issue.
Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani’s campaign for comments but did not respond immediately.
Police say the suspect, Dominican Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, was seen on video before approaching officers while he sat and talking to someone near the waters. No officers have been identified yet.

The policeman, who was not in uniform, pulled out his gun to protect him, and the firefight continued.
The agent collided with his face and forearm and was taken to the hospital, where he is now in stable condition. He is expected to survive.
Nunes was also injured in the shootout and was shot in the foot and gro caliber, police said. Authorities say he was dropped off at a hospital in the Bronx.

President Donald Trump put a heavy emphasis on Sunday afternoon shootings, writing that “an incredible CBP officer was shot in the face by an illegal alien monster released to the country under Joe Biden.”
Mamdani has been widely criticised for his previous calls he said to work with Trump to deport illegal immigrants in order to work with police and Trump if he is elected mayor in November.
Mamdani said in June that he would suspend U.S. immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) officials “masked” to “deport neighbors.”

Federal immigration officials are facing an increase in public scrutiny from Democrats and left-wing activist groups, even reaching the point of violence. The Border Patrol targeted an ambush at an annex facility in McAllen, Texas earlier this month. There, a local police officer was attacked by his leg and two border patrol officers were injured. The gunman was killed.

ICE agents have faced an 830% increase in attacks since last year, as the Trump administration continues to increase its deportation and immigration enforcement efforts, according to DHS.
