According to Caltrans, the weather-stricken issue at Topanga Canyon Boulevard continues to close roads due to unspecified times in the Santa Monica Mountains.
Frequently damaged closed roads require structural repairs and cleaning after recent rain causes washouts along the road. The work adds to the repairs needed after Palisade burns tens of thousands of acres in the area.
The closure will affect the road between the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Grandview Drive.
Caltrans says access to emergency responders will be available and is exploring options for restricted access in the near future, but for now it will remain generally closed without time for reopening.

This decision came after the recent discovery of a large rock in an unstable position above the road. It was eventually removed on February 24th, but poses a threat to the crew who work to recover the roads after recent rain and fire-related damage.
Some of the repairs required are rerouting the main water line and underground electrical work. The crew will also install rock cable meshes to prevent rocks and rocks from rolling down the slopes onto the road.
“We recognize the important role these corridors play in cleanup and recovery efforts for residents and the public,” Cartlan said. “The decision to resume lanes must be a joint decision from all parties with specific plans in place and safety as their number one consideration. We will continue to inform you of potential plans that will provide limited escorted access for the specified period.”
