Authorities say the man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of his parents, who were found stabbed Saturday at Azusa’s home after police responded to the calls of people screaming.
Gabriel Contreras, 28, is accused of two murders of Linda Rodriguez and Arthur Contreras, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was also charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
The Azusa Police Department found parents suffering from multiple knife wounds in their 300 block of North Twin Tree Avenue around 2pm on Saturday, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Los Angeles County Fire Department also responded, declaring his deceased parents.
According to LA County Medical Examiner, 50, Rodriguez died of gunshot wounds and multiple sharp force injuries, while Elder Contreras, 58, died of multiple sharp force injuries.
The young Contrera was found outside the house suffering from multiple stab wounds and was taken to the hospital in dangerous conditions. On Wednesday, he was arrested by the Azusa Police Station.
He is currently in custody at Pomona Municipal Court in lieu of $2 million bail, according to the Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Information Center. He reached a deadline in court on Friday, but information about his plea was not immediately available.
