(KTLA) – A 23-year-old San Bernardino County man has been charged with murdering his wife, authorities announced Monday.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said in a news release that at approximately 1:35 a.m. on Jan. 5, a suspect, identified as Twentynine Palms resident Carlos Zamudio, attacked his 21-year-old wife, Savannah Enke. He announced that he had taken her to his home. High Desert Medical Center Emergency Room in Joshua Tree.
According to the sheriff’s department, the 21-year-old woman had serious injuries, and responding deputies from the Morongo Basin station also noted that Zamudio had injuries to his face.
Despite life-saving measures, Enke was pronounced dead at the hospital, and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Specialized Investigations Division assumed the incident.

“During the investigation, it was determined that Mr. Zamudio was responsible for the injuries that resulted in Mr. Enke’s death,” the release states.
No information was provided about a potential motive for the violence or how the deadly encounter unfolded.
A 23-year-old man was taken into custody and booked at Morongo Prison on suspicion of murder.
