The 46-year-old San Bernardino County man is in custody after violent armed robbery and carjacking earlier this year, officials said.
In a news release, Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials said they responded to the 18,000 block of Decker Road, Mead Valley, just before 8am on Jan. 7, with a report of the robbery.
At the scene, authorities found the victim who was taken away at a muzzle and car-thrown, but the suspect, identified as Francisco Diaz, now a resident of Rialto, fled to the victim’s car.
According to the release, the victim’s vehicle was placed a little later.

About two and a half months later, on March 31, a police officer from the Riverside Police Station found the 46-year-old and tried to arrest him. A pursuit was launched after Diaz was able to avoid the officers along the river.
“The California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino Police Department helped them with the pursuit,” authorities said. “This pursuit ended in San Bernardino, where Diaz was detained.”
The 46-year-old was transferred to custody of the RCSD Robbery Disability Control Team and booked at COIS Bird Detention Centre for robbery and carjacking.
An investigation is underway in Diaz and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Riverside County Sheriff’s Investigator Barbie at Perris Station, 951-776-1099 or 951-210-1000.
