Police have arrested one of three suspects after pursuing a vehicle that injured an innocent bystander in Ventura County, police confirmed Sunday.
The Port Hueneme Police Department said officers tried to stop the Black Cadillac escalade due to a traffic violation around 10:26am on Saturday.
According to the department, the escalade did not stop and instead fled the streets of Port Huneme, and began a police pursuit.
During a chase that lasted about four minutes in total, Escalade collided with a melt-free vehicle at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Ventura Road.
Police said the bystander suffered minor injuries but did not immediately provide details on the number of people injured.
The Escalade eventually stopped in the 3400 block of Kern Street.
The driver attempted to escape from the police and resisted, but the officers used Taser and detained him and arrested him.
However, police said two other passengers in the car escaped but were found. Police initially described two people who fled to one other than one person, not a man or another woman.
In addition to the arrest, officers found a stolen fire hydrant inside the escalade, but did not say whether the driver stole it. “An investigation into possession of a stolen fire hydrant is underway,” the department said.

Police have identified the driver as Juan Contreras, 33, of Oxnard, and learned that he has an outstanding bail felony warrant for a probation violation for car theft.
The officer booked a Contrera for avoiding a felony vehicle, felony blows and running, possession of stolen property and his warrant, and was later taken to a major prison in Ventura County.
If there is any information regarding this case, the department has asked Detective Sergeant Jesus Chavez at jchavez@cityofporthueneme.org or 805-986-6615.
