A Southern California man was convicted of abusing two young children over the years.
John Edward Khalil, 28, of Oxnard, was convicted of a crime by a ju judge on April 28, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced.
From 2014 and 2020, Khalil abused two children under the age of 14 at the time. He accessed the children through family relationships, and abuse occurred in the home they shared.

Both victims reported abuse after the arrest of another family member who allegedly abused them, court documents said. Prosecutors did not name the other suspects.
Khalil was arrested and found guilty of six counts of child abuse. Special allegations deemed true included the involvement of multiple victims under the age of 14 and having substantial sexual conduct.
“The teenage victim is not only sexually abused by the defendant, but is also allegedly a victim in a pending case of sexual abuse against another family member,” said Ventura County District Attorney Stuart Gardner, who charged the case. “The trauma they endured may never be completely healed, but this verdict marks the beginning of their journey to recovery.”
A ruling hearing is scheduled for June 6th in Ventura County Superior Court. Khalil faces 150 years of life in a state prison. He remains in custody without bail.
