A Ventura County man was found guilty of raping a woman with Alzheimer’s disease.
Joseph Lynn Johnson, 45, of Port Huneme, was convicted of a crime in February 2020 after having sex with a woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident occurred while Johnson was visiting the Port Huneme home. He was a friend of the victim’s family.

The victim was being cared for by his daughter. When her daughter left to shower, she returned to find Johnson on her mother in the bedroom, court documents said.
The incident was reported and Johnson was taken into custody. On April 24, he was convicted by a ju-dean raping an incompetent person with a special allegation that the victim was vulnerable.
“We are grateful for their careful consideration and for their verdict that brings justice to the victims,” said Ventura County District Attorney Emily Leber, who charged the case. “The defendant exploited the vulnerability of women who deserve care and dignity, not manipulation or harm.”
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 22 in Ventura County Superior Court, where Johnson faces eight years in the state prison.
