The strange text was the first clue that something ominous happened to an elderly Rancho Cucamonga man associated with a large cryptocurrency property.
They began with a robotic response in a family group chat, and included a refusal that was not characteristic of visiting his grandchild, followed by a complete silence.
Now, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the mysterious disappearance of Niping Hou, 74, the father of prominent cryptocurrency investor Wen Huu.
A $250,000 reward is offered for information that leads to Naiping Hou’s return or finding someone responsible for his loss of.

The detective believes that someone used Elder Ho’s cell phone to impersonate him. According to the sheriff’s department, extensive fraudulent transactions were also made using his bank account at the time of his loss.
Wen Hou said more than $1 million was sucked up from his father’s savings and used to buy gold bars online.

The elder had declined via text to visit his son and grandson at a Las Vegas residence on his birthday, so Wen Hu gave him the gift of traditional handmade Chinese noodles all night long. The person who controlled his phone refused to answer the call on his birthday and texted Wen Hu at 9:18pm instead of thanking the gift. “Yes, I’ll take it.”
The next morning, Wen Hou asks a family friend to check in Rancho Cucamonga’s father. They discover that the noodles package is sitting leaning forward, making an even more shocking discovery inside.
The house had all the furniture stripped off and had a new, apparent painting job on the interior walls, Wen Hou said. His father’s car was missing from his garage, and the man himself was nowhere to be seen.
It was discovered that the Rancho Cucamonga home in Naiping Hou has been stripped of furniture and new interior paint.

Wen Hou reported his father’s loss disappearance to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office on May 4th.
According to his family, the wife of the elder’s wife was visiting the Chinese family when it was believed he was missing. While abroad, she told her to cancel her flight from hou’s phone and told her he would join her in Asia.
Detectives say they are currently following several leads but cannot share more information as the investigation is underway.
They are asking the public to keep an eye on a 5-foot-7 Asian man with dark hair, black eyes and birth marks on his upper left shoulder, weighing about 170 pounds. They are also seeking information about the silver Toyota Yaris in connection with Hou’s loss disappearance.

Frustrated by the lack of an investigation update, Wen Hou launched this week a website dedicated to raising awareness about his father’s loss of beasion. The family is asking the public to share information via text, WhatsApp, or signals on the personal tip line at (213) 564-9366.
“We’re really sad and it’s really devastating to experience this,” Wen Hu said.
Wen Hou doesn’t know who the potential crimes against his father are, but he fears that the contractor who worked at Wu’s home at the beginning of the year preyed on his father or lured him.
“I hope this is a caution for older adults,” he said, adding that his father’s loss of failure turned his attention to how common it is for criminals to take advantage of older adults.
Wen Hou is a well-known hedge fund and cryptocurrency investor and is Chief Investment Officer of Cocincident Capital.
In 2021, he spent $9.7 million on his Bel Air home, according to reports from real. In 2022, he and his wife presented USC Keck School of Medicine with $1.1 million in cryptocurrency to support their research into heart disease.
Wen Hu believes in the lessons taught him by his father, born in Shaankshi, China, and moved to the San Gabriel Valley to pursue a better life for his children.
“My journey has been a long one, and it started with my father’s decision to move to the US,” Hou told USC in 2022.
Through wise business decisions, Naiping Hou went financially and retired comfortably. The elder is a family man and enjoys hobbies such as ping pong, woodworking and fishing.
