Officers at one Southern California police department are handing out gift cards instead of tickets when they stop some drivers this holiday season.
The Orange County Fullerton Police Department is sharing Starbucks gift cards while having “conversations” with drivers about public transportation safety.
“It’s not every day you get pulled over by the police and given a coffee gift card instead of a ticket!” police posted on Instagram.

The gift was made available thanks to a recent donation of 150 $10 Starbucks cards from the Fullerton Police Department and Community Foundation, the post says.
In one video, a police officer offers a gift card to a driver while telling him his tail light is out.
The police department said the goal is to spread a little cheer while making the roads safer for everyone.
“The recipient of the gift card was blown away by this kind gesture!” the post said.
