A 21-year-old school security guard from San Bernardino County has been arrested on suspicion of sexual contact with a minor, officials said.
In a news release, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department of Specialist Crime Investigation Division – Investigators on details of crimes against children responded to Columbia Middle School, 14409 Astor Road, Adelanto, on Thursday after allegations were reported.
Authorities have identified Adelanto resident Deshawn Mitchell, an alternative security guard at the middle school, as the suspect.
“Investigators and the Adelanto Elementary School District worked together to ensure that a thorough investigation into this issue has been completed,” the release said.

The alleged victim of the incident was not identified due to his status as a juvenile, nor was there any information provided about how long the 21-year-old was working at school or whether he knew the child in question.

Mitchell was arrested and booked with a child under the age of 14 for a desert detention center and lewd act.
His bail is set at $250,000, and it is unclear whether he is in custody.
