A Ventura County teen faces nearly 20 child pornography charges in juvenile court, the District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
A 17-year-old Simi Valley resident faces charges of possession or control of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), distribution and possession with intent to distribute CSAM to an adult, and use of CSAM, according to the prosecutor’s office. He is charged with 22 felonies. Minors engaging in sexual activity.
Officials said the boy was also charged with two special counts of possessing more than 600 CSAM images and that the images contained sadomasochistic acts.
The minor’s identity has not been disclosed by the prosecutor’s office.
The investigation into the teen’s possession and distribution of CSAM began in August following “several cybertip reports from multiple electronic service providers and social media sites,” the prosecutor’s office said in a press release. said.
“The material disseminated online included exploitation and sexual assault of children, including infants,” the release continued.
FBI agents and supporting agencies executed a search warrant at the boy’s residence on December 10, which resulted in his arrest.
The boy made his first court appearance on Dec. 12 and is being held at a juvenile facility in Oxnard, according to the DA’s office.
