A Waymo Robotaxi in the Los Angeles area of Beverly Grove was targeted by a crowd of people over the weekend, a video posted on social media shows.
The incident unfolded around 4 a.m. at the intersection of La Cienega Boulevard and West 3rd Street, and the Los Angeles Police Department told the LA Times that responding officers received a report of vandalism, but no arrests were made. Ta.
The driverless taxi, which had no customers inside at the time, reportedly stopped at a red light when a crowd surrounded the Jaguar and began destroying it.
In footage of the incident posted online by the X account Los Angeles Scanner, one person can be seen on the roof of the vehicle while another person is in the “driver’s” seat. A third person was seen kicking in the rear passenger door.

The passenger front door was torn and lying on the hood of the vehicle, and at least the front passenger tire was flattened. All windows were also shattered, including the windshield.
Waymo spokeswoman Julia Ilina told The Times in a statement that the company is cooperating with police working on the investigation, adding that “these types of events are rare.”
Another post on X by the same account suggested that about 40 people took part in the vandalism during the street buy, but police said there was no evidence there was a buy in the area.
In the Fairfax area earlier this month, a robbery suspect who got into an altercation with a security guard at a grocery store tried to flee in one of the self-driving taxis, getting about three miles from the store before the car pulled over. A video obtained by police and KTLA showed.
